What is the Trauma-Informed Walk/Run/Roll/Stroll Club?

This community-based cardio club offers a safe, inclusive, and body-affirming space to explore movement at your own pace—whether you walk, run, roll, or stroll. Designed to gently acclimate the body to the experience of cardiovascular exercise, this outdoor program offers structured pacing groups, supportive guidance, and trauma-informed instruction to meet the diverse needs of all participants.

  • Inclusive and Accessible for Every Body
Led by Toni and Zita, this class centers accessibility, autonomy, and connection. Whether you use a wheelchair, mobility aid, stroller, scooter, or your own two feet, you are welcome here.
  • Neurologically Informed – People who experience high levels of stress or have survived traumatic experiences may experienced altered responses to cardiopulmonary exercise due to nervous system hypersensitivity. This program is instructed through the lens of titration (start low and slow), intuitive progression (listen to your body, not technology), and mind-body-connection (our internal healing is facilitated by the presence of exerternal supports)
  • Supportive & Modifiable – Participants can choose their pace and movement style, with rest encouraged and structured support available throughout. The path includes seated rest spots and accessible, indoor washrooms.
  • Low-Pressure, High-Support – There’s no competition or expectation here—just community, fresh air, and movement that meets you where you’re at.
  • Voice, Choice, & Autonomy-Respecting – All movement is invitational. You decide your pace, distance, and level of engagement, with guidance available if desired.
  • Cardio Without Comparison – The focus is on body awareness, pacing, and confidence—not metrics or performance. Participants are supported in learning to tolerate and enjoy cardiovascular movement in a safe, gradual way.
  • Body-Affirming & Weight Neutral – This isn’t about “getting fit”—it’s about reconnecting with your body, building trust in movement, and experiencing the mental health and social benefits of community activity.
